It’s a series full of metaphors. Rivers, bones and now oil! Our lives of faith are like a lamp, and a lamp needs oil to burn. The bible paints a picture of our lamps being called to burn continually, not starting and stopping and not burning out. When the oil runs out the light dims, the wick smoulders, and the light eventually goes out. This is not God’s plan for our lamps, yet it is many christians experience. How can we get fresh oil in our lamps and keep our faith and passion for Christ burning strong?
Can these bones live? This is the question God asked the prophet Ezekiel as He showed him a vision of a valley filled with dry bones. These dry bones represented something that used to be alive and teeming with life, but had now become lifeless and dead. If we’re honest, there are things in our lives that used to be alive but today seem like a valley of dry bones. God is asking us the same question he asked Ezekiel, can these bones live again?
Jesus said that anyone who believes in Him, from their hearts will flow rivers of living water. God has chosen us, to flow through us! He wants to flow out of our lives like a river, reviving and refreshing dry & barren hearts everywhere we go. But what if we feel like the one who’s dry, hard and dusty? How can the river flow again? How can we be revived and see the power of His Spirit at work in our lives once again?
