One of the qualities that makes the bible unique is its prophetic nature. God speaking! God who is eternal, knows the end from the beginning and inspired His holy prophets to write about things that would take place in the future. Many of these prophecies are about the coming of the Messiah, a saviour who was promised to the people of Israel and the world. Investigating the fulfilled prophecies of Jesus will open our eyes wider to the greatness of God, leaving no room for doubt that the bible is true, God breathed and supernatural!
The bible was written over a period of about 1500 years by 40 different writers, between 1400BC & 90AD. That's a really long time ago! How can we be sure that what we have today is reliable and accurate? How can we be confident that people haven't altered, twisted and changed it over the years? This is a great question that we should be able to give an answer for, so let's see how the bible has done through the centuries and see if there's any room for doubt when it comes to trusting it's accuracy and reliability.
Everything we believe as Christians is based on the authority of the bible. The books of the Old Testament, the 4 gospels of Jesus life and ministry & the letters from the early disciples to the churches. These 66 books make up what we call the bible. How can we know that it's reliable? What would we say if someone challenged us with a question like "How did the bible get put together?" and "How do you know you can trust it?"
