Hall of Fame: The Promise-Giver (Part 5)

September 15, 2015

What other people thought about Joseph, said about him or how they treated him, no matter how hurtful, couldn’t stand in the way of Gods plans for his life. Joseph had faith in the promise-giver more than he did the promise itself.

Rahab began life in obscurity in a city far from God, living a life of shame, pain and regret as a prostitute, but remarkably ended up in a place of honour in the faith hall of fame. She put her faith in God, and was delivered out of her former life and seated securely in the family of God. Her story continues to bless anyone who is far from God and has lost hope for the future. God changed her heart, restored her dignity and rewrote the end to her story, and brought her into a life of purpose and destiny.

Gideon, like many of us, doubted his own abilities. He had suffered so many defeats and failures that he didn’t know if he was capable to doing what God was asking of him. Gideon experienced the truth of ‘When I am weak I am strong’. God reduced his army to 300 so there would be no doubt that victory was from the Lord, not from the army's might. Gideon was slow to believe but became convinced of God's power. When we doubt ourselves we are really doubting God, when we trust in God we learn how to walk in confidence.
